Dear Karen:
You're starting a new chapter; soon you'll give birth to your first child. "Karen, Junior" will change your life dramatically and for the better. Motherhood is infinitely more rewarding than "anchorhood." We get that.
So, we say goodbye and God speed.
We will miss your calm demeanor under the fire of breaking news. You were always at your best when there was no time for a script.
We will miss your curmudgeonly precision in copy editing. A stern look from you invariably meant a grammatical infraction.
We will miss your quick smile and laugh reminding us that while the news is often serious, we cannot afford to take ourselves too seriously.
And I... I will miss you on my left hand at the anchor desk. Your steady to my scattershot. Thank you for cursing me only in Japanese. Yamo!
Rob reminded me about what you said just the other night. We walked off the set after the late news and you declared, "I'm not that bad of an anchor!" We all laughed, but the truth is you're a great anchor and you will be an even greater mom.
We can't wait to see you and Karen, Jr.
Sincerely,
Brent
