Salt Lake City (ABC 4 News) Talk about ambitious. A local charity hopes to put together more than 12 thousand gift boxes and be part of helping 8.3 million children in 100 countries this Christmas.
It's called Operation Christmas Child and it is the world's largest Christmas project. The goal is to fill shoe boxes with little gifts, school supplies and other "typical stocking stuffers" and send them to children in 3rd world countries. During an interview on Good Morning Utah, Allison Long, from Operation Christmas Child, told us that people in Utah helped create and ship off 11,000 shoe boxes last year and this year she hopes to top that to the tune of 12,500.
The ship dates is November 21st and the Collection week begins on Monday. For more information go to
