Few stories have attracted a following like the Susan Cox Powell disappearance. She vanished from her West Valley home last December with out a trace. In the meantime her husband Josh has remained almost completely silent that is until last week when he talked with a reporter from the Salt Lake Tribune.

I often wonder what our Founding Fathers would think of the United States today. Would they be pleased with the way our political leaders have managed the Constitution's power?

Geyser in Yellowstone National Park
There is nothing like dropping everything to refocus and clarify. It's exactly what I did last week when I traded the busy and exciting ABC 4 Newsroom for Yellowstone National Park.

Herriman Fire (Mike Day , Herriman City Council)
I will probably never forget looking into the eyes of the men, women and children forced to evacuate their homes to escape a dangerous fire. It's amazing how fast a disaster can unfold and change lives.

I think it's clear this kind of entertainment has never been available to the general public on the scale it is now in the history of the world. I think with this kind of access we have never had the greater need for responsibility.

Barbara Smith's story about Senator Daniel Liljenquist's, R-Bountiful, talk of eliminating elective C-sections for Medicaid recipients caught my attention. Each of the procedures costs about $9,000 and the money adds up. Liljenquist says this is just one component of much needed Medicaid reform. He says if nothing changes the system could collapse. What a mess!

1994 Missouri 4A State Championship Team (ABC 4)
New Orleans Saints Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams, who led the Saints to its first ever Super Bowl win this year, recently inducted my football team into the Excelsior Springs, Missouri Hall of Fame. Williams is also an Excelsior Springs native graduating in 1976.

There is nothing like the crack of helmets and pads to get the adrenalin running. High school football is back and I'm excited to follow the teams here in Utah. I have to admit though, I'm going to follow one team especially close because of its unique story.

"Free our people! Free our people, now! Free our People! Free our people, now!" the protesters chanted. There I was standing before a group of people demanding rights for the elderly in nursing homes.

What ever happened to just saying no? No, I can't afford it. No, I'm saving money to balance my budget. No, I don't need to buy it now. This one simple word could possibly save Salt Lake County taxpayers $1.5 million worth of grief.

Clive Haydon reaches the end of long journey (Byrin Miller, ABC 4 News)
I broke a sweat running to the start of the Pioneer Day Parade near Temple Square. Good thing I wore sneakers, jeans and a comfortable shirt. You see I had to park about a mile away because of the massive crowds converging underneath the skyscrapers in downtown Salt Lake City for the beloved holiday.

I love reporting the news in Utah. This State is fascinating because of the people, but also because of its leaders. I have to say overall I'm impressed and I think I'm qualified to share an accurate point of view.

I was at my desk posting a story online when I got the call. It was photojournalist Darrin McQuade who was still at Liberty Park. He told me about the terrible misfires. I dropped my head and lifted my hands over my face. I was sick to my stomach until I learned no one was killed.

Dealers are using Twilight stars to market heroin to young teens. Pictures of the popular characters are printed on packets of the drug. It's also cheaper than ever. Anyone can get a hit for as little as $10 in Salt Lake County.

My job forces me to see horrible things. This week I reported the death of a beautiful young wife and mother named Elizabeth Bradley. It's especially difficult because she is survived by two small children and a husband.

OK, you're probably thinking why is a journalist reporting and blogging about a website designed to mock people shopping in Wal-Mart? The truth is I think everyone should learn about it to arm themselves with knowledge. Anyone holding a camera can snap off your picture and post it to the wildly popular website.

My first memories of church are from inside the building my father designed and helped construct with his own hands in Wood Heights, Missouri. It was a simple white house. My family attended sacrament upstairs and I attended primary class down stairs.

2007 immigration rally in Salt Lake City (ABC 4 Newsssss)
The United States is waiting to see what Utah lawmakers put in a bill similar to Arizona's immigration law. Rep. Stephen Sandstrom (R) Orem is drafting the bill. It would basically require officers to ask for proof of citizenship, but only if there is a reason to ask. Examples would include a traffic stop or a criminal investigation involving a person who does not speak English.
