Wesley Ruff

The ABC 4 Sports Director since March of 2002, Wesley Ruff grew up in Springville and graduated with honors from Springville High. His strong academic record earned him a scholarship to Southern Utah State College (now Southern Utah University) and his talent with a golf club led to a golf scholarship from the Utah Golf Association. Ruff earned a degree in broadcast journalism from Brigham Young University.

Wesley is a five-time winner (1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008) of the Utah Sportscaster of the Year award, as voted by the sportscasters and sportswriters in the state of Utah. Ruff was also named the Bill Howard Golf Citizen of the Year by the Utah Section PGA in both 2000 and 2006.

Wesley came to ABC 4 in 1985 from KFYR-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota, where he worked as the weekend sports reporter and photographer. Ruff is a dedicated public service volunteer and is a frequent spokesperson for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. He has also hosted the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon since 1995. Additionally, Ruff is proud of the money raised from Beat the Pro event, which began in 1991.
