Washington cuts hit Utah college students

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Hundreds of college bound students are losing their tuition because of the budget battle in Washington.
The Department of Defense emailed letters to Army Reservists stating their tuition assistance is suspended until further notice. It adds up to $4,500.
Trevor Bagley is a freshman who wants to study computer science at Salt Lake Community College.
He joined the Army Reserves to pay for school, but on Friday he got an email stating the money is no longer available.
"It's just like boom canceled," Bagley said.
Trever says he'll have to take on a third part time job and take out student loans. This is one of the latest ways the mismanagement in Washington is hurting honest hardworking people in Utah.
"One of the main reasons you join the Army Reserves is education benefits. Tuition assistance is one of the major ones," Bagley said.
Trevor is losing $3,200 this year because of this budget cut. He works as a soccer referee and at a fast food restaurant. He'll now need a third job and take out student loans to cover the cost of his 12 credits during the summer semester.
