SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – The first major snow storm of the year along the Wasatch Front is prompting skiers and snowboarders to buy new equipment for the slopes.
Now that snow is on the ground, Utah skiers and snowboarders can’t wait to gear up and go out.
“Are you excited about the ski season?” Reporter Brian Carlson asked a winter shopper.
“I am,” said CJ Kavanagh, winter shopper.
“I’m way too stoked for the ski season,” said Devin Hastie, applying for ski shop job.
“The sooner the better,” said Matt Van Dorn, winter shopper.
“All it takes is a little bit of snow on the mountains to get people excited,” said Nikko Denis, Ski ‘N See, Store Manager.
Nikko Denis manages the Ski ‘N See in Sandy, and tells ABC 4 sales are starting to ramp up.
“We’ve seen everything from skis, jackets, goggles, gloves... we’re selling just about everything right now,” said Denis.
Denis believes many people are using their wallets to show their optimism for the upcoming season.
“I’m hoping for a better winter than last year,” said Trevor Brandol, winter shopper.
“Do you think you got jipped last year?” Carlson asked one shopper.
“I’d say more of a bad roll of the dice or bad hand,” said Kavanagh.
If Mother Nature shows better hand this go-around, October’s winter shoppers will be ready.
One the most popular items the Store Manager at Ski ‘N See tells ABC 4 people are buying this season are helmets. As of Tuesday, Ski ‘N See is selling last year’s style helmets for 50% off.
