SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - As people on the east coast survey the damage caused by superstorm Sandy people here in Utah are coming to their aid.
Globus Relief, a Salt Lake City non-profit group, is shipping supplies to the hardest hit areas on the eastern seaboard.
A truck load of supplies is left Salt Lake City Oct., 31 for east coast disaster relief.
Supplies in the warehouse were packed up and loaded into a 53 foot truck.
"I'm glad I'm part of it, to make relief and everybody on the east coast," said Jim Cable who will drive the supplies east.
More than 60 pallets packed with safety items like coveralls, boot covers masks and first aid supplies are on their way. The supplies are things clean-up crews will need to protect their bodies in the weeks and months ahead.
"The quality of the materials is such that they can be used in a natural disaster situation as a great protection for workers," said International Project Manager for Globus Relief, Aaron Lock.
This is likely one of hundreds of trucks stocking up and shipping out for superstorm Sandy relief.
"I feel great after a good day knowing that the product we're sending out is helping others around the world," said Warehouse worker, Adam Waudby.
This shipment of supplies will arrive in Springfield, Missouri tomorrow night and then it'll make its way to the east coast.
