What a crock from NotAKnowItAll. No such thing as responsible dog breeding??? There are a number of all breed kennel clubs in the Utah (Sandy) area as well as specialty clubs where these people could have found a breeder that not only would guarantee the health of a puppy but would have done the responsible thing and sold it on a spay/neuter contract. They obviously didn’t look too hard. And NO -- 20,000 is NOT the average number of dogs and cats that are 'put to sleep' in every county in the United States. Statements like this are nothing but lies echoed from the animal rights organizations like the HSUS that seek to end all animal ownership. The HSUS isn’t a humane society nor are they affiliated with any humane society anywhere. They’re nothing but a deceptive animal rights group (or a white collar PETA organization) that’s being sued based on the RICO statute (racketeering) by Feld entertainment.

Yes, Virginia, there are indeed responsible breeders. The irresponsible breeders are usually found by irresponsible owners, people who would buy a lifetime investment, sight unseen over the internet. Is that how they'd buy a house, pick a college, find a spouse, hire a babysitter? Those that would are losers. Responsible breeders won't allow such shallow nitwits a chance to own a dog of their breeding. Here's a shocker. Don't support 501c3 charities who pour 30% of their $100 million annual budget into fundraising efforts, another 30% into lobbying efforts and 40% into salaries and 401k plan contributions. While you're searching on the internet, look up their official statements filed with the IRS. Buy your pet local, so you can meet and greet the breeder. Donate local so you can be sure what you give is used effectively to benefit the animals who need it. That's probably the untold story behind this bit of reporting.

I don't think there's any such thing as 'responsible' dog breeding. With all the animals in shelters, it's unforgivable that anyone would purchase a puppy. There are purebreds, puppies and mature dogs at your local pound. 20,000 is the average number of dogs and cats that are 'put to sleep' in every county in the United States. Please ADOPT an animal that desperately needs a home, don't buy one for the sake of fashion, they wind up being euthanized. Do the right thing! And no, I don't work for an animal organization, I'm just an anonymous person with a conscience.
