SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A body was recovered at Fairmont Park Monday night. Police call the death suspicious.

Police pulled a 38-year-old man's body from this pond Monday at 8:56 p.m. The following day police continued to try and understand how and why the victim entered the water.

"Wow. That's amazing. I'm blown away. I can't believe that would happen," said Karen Sharp.

"It's something you don't really expect in this area," said Chris Smith.

"I always thought of this area as safe," said Alicia Rogers.

Police say the victim moved to Utah about a year ago and they're having a hard time finding his family. Two people feeding ducks found the floating body.

They also found a wet 35-year-old man sitting at the edge of the pond with his feet in the water. He was taken to the hospital and treated for exposure.

Police say his trance-like state made it impossible to question this man and impossible to understand if he has a connection to the body in the water.

While finding a body my come as a shock some locals-- the crime is not new to the Fairmont Park. In December of 2010 a woman was raped and violently killed in the Park's bathroom. Folks who work in the area say they don't come to this area after dark.

A stark contrast to what folks who shop in this area say. Today police are interviewing the wet man found near the body last night, they're not saying if there's a connection.

Call Salt Lake City police if you saw anything unusual at Fairmont Park before 9:00 p.m. Monday.
