SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – The Utah Highway Patrol is now confirming what ABC 4 first reported earlier this week; that former Trooper of the Year, Lisa Steed, has been reprimanded by the UHP in the past.

Responding to a GRAMA (Government Records Access and Management Act) request by  ABC 4, the UHP has now released two Letters of Reprimand issued to Steed.

The first is dated June 1, 2010 – three years after Steed became the first female to be given the Trooper of the Year honor.  Steed gained notoriety by making hundreds of DUI arrests.

While the June first letter does not spell out exactly what Steed was reprimanded for, it does make reference to, "...issues related to noncompliance with section directives and workplace policies.”

The letter goes on to say, "Please take this discipline as it is intended, a very stern and serious reminder that failure to follow policy as described will not be tolerated and future occurrences may result in further disciplinary action.”

Then on November 19th, also in 2010, Steed was issued another Letter of Reprimand by the UHP.

This second letter is shorter and less revealing than the first.

ABC 4 was also the first to report late last year that Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill was reviewing more than 30 of Trooper Steed's cases.

Gill told us that he took this action after hearing complaints about Steed's professional conduct.

Then, also in our story this week, we reported that Gill's office had dismissed some of Steed's cases.

Gill told ABC 4 that he has the prosecutorial discretion to dismiss cases he doesn't think he can win.

Other then revealing these letters of reprimand, the UHP has been reluctant to comment further on this matter.

Another one of the many officers in this state that think the law does not pertain to them. How much taxpayer money is it going to cost when the lawsuits start rolling in. She needs to resign and move to the other police dept that has a total disregard for the law. Lisa Steed new Police chief of Cottonwood Heights.
