SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - High school officials canceled a football game between Alta and West Jordan Wednesday night after two players suffered concussions.

West Jordan head football coach Mike Morgan says they're investigating how the injuries to his players occurred, but that they could have been a result of direct hits. He reports both players were acting out of the ordinary, which according to doctors is very common when a concussion occurs.

After one of the teens lost consciousness, both players were taken to Intermountain Medical Center. One player by the name of Ronnie Yengich was released, and according to his parents is doing well. The other sophomore, who's name has not been released is still in the hospital, but in good condition.

Have our coaches thought about kids taking 'enhancing' substances prior to games? 10 years ago when I taught - kids would drink a ton of energy drinks or take caffine pills to get pumped for games. OR is their equipment up to date? Have their helmets been reconditioned?
