SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Hours before the grand opening of Salt Lake’s new Trader Joe’s, friends and family of store employees got to scope out the new store.

Nandi Magadla was one of the lucky few.

"You know I love the atmosphere it's different it's electric" Magadla said.

Nandi and other family members got to walk the aisles, check out the products and even test out a few. She says it was a neat experience.

"I have never been to one this is my first time. I typically shop at whole foods, sometimes smiths as well so when I heard Trader Joe's I was like oh really?" She said.

Thanks to this sneak preview, the store may have got itself a new customer.

"I was looking at the prices as I was walking down the aisles and they're a little more affordable so it will be a little easier on my wallet," Nandi said.

But it wasn’t just family and friends at the store Thursday night. Standing outside the entrance, we found David Stinson patiently waiting.

"Yep, I've been here since 4 this afternoon," he said with a smile.

David drove from Utah County and plans on camping out all night Thursday so he can the very first customer when the doors open at 8:00 Friday morning.

"Yeah I'm excited cause my stash at my house is running low I was just in there in Arizona and picked up a bunch of stuff, but this is gonna be my new home," David said.

As the first person through the door, he should have no problem getting his hands on the holiday candy he craves.
