DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Two teenagers are grateful to be home safe Friday night after a frightening hike up Lone Peak in draper. A brother and sister got stuck on the mountain in the Corner Canyon area, as temperatures dropped and a storm began rolling in.

Friday night, members of Derek Tolman’s family are grateful to be back in each others arms.

"We're going to take them home, put them in a warm shower and a warm bed," said Derek Tolman, father of lost hikers.

The brother and sister almost didn't make it off the mountain. On Thursday morning, the teenagers decided to hike Lone Peak in Draper. But they got lost, became stuck and weren't prepared for the harsh conditions.

"We had enough food and water, we just didn't bring any coats," said Nathan, the brother.

Using a cell phone, they called their parents, and their parents called Search and Rescue. Crews set out to the find them. The search included a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter. After several hours overnight hacking through rough terrain, ground crews found the pair around 3:30 a.m. in bad shape.

"When we showed up, we helped them put some layers on. They were pretty stiff, so they couldn't get their jackets on," said Dan Hadley, Search & Rescue Member.

Crews gave them a new set of dry clothes and pointed the way down the trail.

"Once we got them started moving their condition improved significantly despite having to hike all the way back," said Greg Davis, Search & Rescue Member.

By about 8:00 a.m. they were back in the family van. Rescuers tell ABC 4 the teenagers are doing okay. They were cold, wet, tired, and obviously shook up. Oddly enough, they were more concerned about finishing their homework than anything else.
