The makers of Banana Boat sunscreen are issuing a recall after concerns some sunscreen sprays could burst into flames. The company is pulling 500,000 bottles of spray off store shelves nationwide.

Back in June, we introduced you to Brett Sigworth; his skin was singed after he says his sunscreen caught fire, because he was standing near a bar-b-q grill.

"I went into complete panic mode and screamed. I've never experienced pain like that in my life" Sigworth said.

His skin was only red in the areas where he applied sun block. He was wearing Banana Boat Sport aerosol spray.

"I think if people were told this is flammable for two min on your skin people wouldn't use it," he said.

Since then, a handful of people have caught fire in the u-s and Canada after using one of 23 varieties of Banana Boat Ultramist sunscreens, then coming into contact with an open flame. So energizer holdings, the company that owns banana boat, decided on the voluntary recall.

While there is a warning on the current bottle, Energizer Holdings decided making a safer spray was the best thing to do. They say the new version of the spray should be out soon.

ABC 4 stopped by a few local stores, the sprays had already been removed from shelves.
