SANDY, UTAH (ABC 4 News) -Police arrested a Sandy woman for allegedly selling drugs to teenagers at a local high school and junior high. Neighbors say they were happy to see the SWAT team arrive.
"We don't really want this in our neighborhood." Trey Brimhall says. He caught the raid on his neighbors’ home on camera. "They brought their dogs in to kind of sniff out the whole house."
Trey and his mother Jodi Brimhall say while police dogs and SWAT teams may not be a welcome sight for most neighborhoods, in their neighborhood; it was exactly what they were hoping for. "We’ve talked to a lot of police and really nothing has been done until now." Jodi said.
But police say they were listening and piecing together evidence. Sergeant Gary Young from the Cottonwood Heights Police Department says several tips came in that ultimately allowed them to obtain the search warrant. 'We received tips that there was a couple dealing drugs at Albion junior high school and Brighton highs school."
Meanwhile neighbors say they had it figured out. They say the evidence was in traffic, and the visiting hours at the Clausing home. "We come home and see a bunch of different cars there all time it's pretty obvious they have been dealing drugs and stuff.”
Cottonwood Heights and Sandy Police detectives worked together in the investigation of Steven and Lea Clausing. They arrested Lea Clausing during this raid. She is charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance and other misdemeanor charges.
Police say there are charges pending against Steven as well. He was reportedly left in the home to care for the couples' three children.
