LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Sandy man has been killed in a crash that happened in Little Cottonwood Canyon. A friend of the man spoke exclusively to ABC 4.

Family and friends are mourning the loss of 37 year old Jeremy Chase from Sandy.

"He was a really really good guy, he had a good heart, loved his wife, loved his dogs," said Eric Vaughn, friend of Chase.

Unified Police said sometime after Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Chase drove his Nissan Murano into a ravine near Tanner's Flat, close to Snowbird Ski Resort.  ABC 4 is told Chase managed the Snowpine Lodge at Alta Ski Resort, which opened Friday.

Not knowing about the crash, Chase's friend Eric Vaughn, was one of several people who came up the canyon Friday looking for Chase after he didn't return home to his wife the night before.

"She kept calling and calling and calling, it kept ringing and going to voicemail," said Vaughn.

Police put out a search, but it was Chase's friends who eventually found him Friday afternoon, lying in the ravine, ejected from the car. So far, police don't know what caused the crash.

"What caused that we don't know, but we are going to determine that through this investigation," said Lt. Justin Hoyal, Unified Police Dept.

Meanwhile, Chase's friends don't know how to deal with his death.

"I just feel horrible for his wife, she's a wonderful girl," said Vaughn.

ABC 4 is told Chase was just married on September 8th.
