WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Subtle changes are sweeping public schools across the nation in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings and we’re just beginning to see some of those changes take hold in Utah.

Bonneville High School Students are required to wear I.D. lanyards beginning February 1. They’ll help school leaders quickly identify who belongs and who does not.

“Do you as a student feel more safe wearing a lanyard?”asked ABC 4 reporter Noah Bond. “Yeah, I guess the teachers say they can spot out someone that doesn’t wear a lanyern,” replied Bonneville High School Senior, Mia Adams.

The lanyard will contain a student picture and name. Teachers are required to wear the lanyard now.

“I’ve been supportive as a parent. I think what ever safety precautions that the schools will make I totally support because I want our schools to be safe,” said parent Dianne Adams.
