SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - With just two hours left until 2013, you can feel the excitement in the air in downtown Salt Lake.

"How excited are you for 2013?" ABC 4 Reporter Brian Carlson asked.

"I'm so excited!" said Jamie Miyorga, celebrating the new year.

"I'm really excited!" said Jared Buhler, celebrating the new year.

"It's a new year, new beginning," said Heather Thiele, celebrating the new year.

With so much to see and do at Salt Lake's "3VE" party downtown it's easy to see why people are fired up. This year's theme is light, art and sound. Organizers said there's something for everyone.

"We have almost 10 venues that accept an "3VE" pass... the Leonardo, the Clark Planetarium, there's also the Discovery Gateway, the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, Broadway Center Cinemas, etc," said Nick Como, Downtown Alliance Communications Director.

Monday afternoon hundreds of parents took their children to Family Festival at the Gateway Mall.

"Are you having fun?" Carlson asked one child.

"Oh ya!" said Jaydin Davis.

"Are you going to stay up late tonight?" Carlson asked another child.

"Yes," she nodded.

"What are you going to do when the new year comes?" Carlson asked a third child.

"I dunno," said Sebastian Feldman.

Some already have the moment planned, and are making some big New Year's resolutions.

"Do you have any big goals for 2013?" Carlson asked.

"Ummm," said Miyorga.

"Go to culinary school," said Austin Buhler, celebrating the new year.

"I'm going to start running some more," said Thiele.

"50 lbs," said Jared Buhler.

"You want to gain 50 lbs?" Carlson asked.

"No lose 50 lbs," Buhler said.

"Oh I'm glad you specified," Carlson said.

Meanwhile others aren't waiting to get the party started.

"Happy New Year!" shouted a crowd of people.
