SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - It's an imperfect storm at the 2012 Utah State Legislature.
Not only are lawmakers back in session, but it's also one of the biggest election years in decades.
For starters, all 75 House members will be up for re-election and in newly drawn districts.
So will a third of the state senators.
What's more, one House member is running for governor, one for the U.S. Senate, one for Congress
and two for Salt Lake County Mayor.
Plus, others may already be eyeing both the Speaker's seat, as well as the Senate Presidency.
When we asked legislators to sum up election year sessions, they used words like - different, divisive, adventurous and cautious.
They also suggested this may mean a few more "message bills" and puffing of political peacock feathers for the media and the public.
Now, we asked Senate Majority Leader Scott Jenkins if this also means more speeches?
He told us,
"Yeah, more speeches. You're right. more speeches, more pontificating."
