PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Pleasant Grove police are amping up patrols after a suspicious man has been spotted in the neighborhood.

Mount Mahogany Elementary school officials say on Wednesday a girl was walking home from school when she saw a car pass her and then turn around and stop. That’s when the little girl says the driver got out of the car and ran after her. She ran to the school and told an adult what happened.

News about the incident made its rounds on Facebook. That’s how Debbie Anderson found out about it.

“I had a neighbor post that there had been somebody in a black car in a hoodie that had tried to get a kids into the car,” said Anderson. “I have a third grader that meets little boys, they meet in our driveway and ride to school in the morning and I thought I’m not letting my son do that tomorrow.”

Police aren’t calling it an attempted abduction, but they say they’re doing some extra patrols of the neighborhood. Mount Mahogany Elementary is also going to be putting out a call to all parents to be on the lookout for a suspicious man in a black sedan.

If you have any information you’re asked to contact Pleasant Grove Police.
