WEST VALLEY CITY, UT (ABC 4 News) - There were cries of a police cover-up Tuesday in the shooting death of Danielle Willard.

On November 3, 2012, at the Lexington Park Apartments, Danielle was shot twice in the head by undercover detectives with the West Valley Police Department.

She was unarmed.

The detectives were working a narcotics case. It is not known if Danielle was a subject of their investigation, nor is it known what she might have done to provoke such a deadly response. At the time of the shooting she was apparently sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

The protest marked Danielle's birthday. She would have been 22 years old.

Jesse Bangerter was among the protesters standing on the sidewalk outside of West Valley City Hall.  "She was murdered by the West Valley Police Department," he claimed. "We're not going to stand for it."

Other protesters, like Maggie Schneider, took up positions in city hall's lobby. She said, "Police are getting away with murder." Dallas Greymountain added, "We demand justice for Danielle."

Obviously, many of those who protested had already passed judgment on police.

But another man told ABC 4 News he just wants police to end their silence. "We just want to know what's going on. Honesty, everything is in the shadows. We want to know the real story."

West Valley police responded to the protest with an appeal for more patience. They said their investigation into the shooting of Danielle Willard is not finished. What's more, they could not say how much longer that investigation will take.

The family of Danielle has retained a lawyer. They're asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information to call a toll free hotline: 855-958-7842  Callers can remain anonymous.

Will it take 3 more years? And another murder/suicide before WVCPD can figure out the evidence they have? Or will it take 3 more years to figure out how to cover it up? Shine a light, WVCPD. I'm trying not to make a judgment here, but you certainly aren't helping me. (Nor is your history). At least it's not Ogden. YIKES!!!
