SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A Salt Lake movie theater and pub has been fined $1,627 for showing The Hangover Part II while serving alcohol.

The movie was screened at Brewvies located at 677 South 200 West in June.

The Hangover Part II is the sequel to the popular 2009 comedy hit The Hangover starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis.

Part of the film depicts full frontal male nudity involving transsexual men in Bangkok, Thailand. During the end credits of the movie, the character portrayed by Ed Helms is seen having sex with one of the transsexuals.

The film was rated R by the MPAA.

Brewvies has a liquor license with the Utah Division of of Alcoholic Beverages, which regulates the sale of alcohol. Part of Utah's code prohibits the serving and sale of alcohol where nudity is also present.

In the settlement agreement, the DABC specifically states:

"Brewvies, a social club, showed a film, an electronic reproduction, or other visual reproduction depicting: (1) an act or simulated act of sodomy, bestiality or oral copulation, and (2) a scene wherein a person displayed a genital in violation Utah Code...

In a settlement with the DABC, the owners of Brewvies agreed to pay the fine, and will face no other action.

I think DABC should focus on fixing all of it's problems and corruption before fining a perfectly good law abiding establishment. That fine probably went straight to someone's own pocket. Finally, there are 9 states that I can think of where the general public can watch a R movie with nudity and order a beer and the establishment doesn't get a fine for it. Utah needs to realize that you can try to force good living all you want but it's failed. UT is #1 in porn subscriptions, anti depressants, scams/fraud, bankruptcy and prescription abuse. It's time we wised up, get some fresh new honest uncorrupted less self serving politicians (pretty sure that's beyond a wish and an oxymoron)and get rid of the dumb laws (this law as example). Than turn our attention to the real problems.

This cannot be serious! Alcohol can't be served if the movie shows sex with reproduction and genitalia? What's next? No pizza if the movie is about French food??
