SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Thousands of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are flocking to Utah for General Conference and in this election year many are reacting to the presidential campaigns.
ABC 4 talked with several members from outside of Utah to get the general feel for things in other states.
Terry Clement here is from Medford, Oregon. ABC 4's Noah Bond asked, "Have you seen any shift in the way people are talking about President Obama since the debate? Clement responded, "They're unhappy with our present situation. They know something needs to be done so they're leaning more toward Mitt Romney."
Kim Baldi is from Mount Shasta, California. Bond asked, "Did this debate change the attitudes or the way people are talking about Mitt Romney in your northern California community?" Baldi, "Yes it did." Bond, 'Tell me about that." Baldi, "Yes, it did I spoke to a couple of people who one I would term as undecided and one I would term as in support of the president. The one that was undecided felt that they needed to check into Mitt Romney a little more than they probably would have and the other one offered up that he thought President Romney did an outstanding job representing himself."
Many Latter-day Saints expect President Obama to come out swinging for the next two debates to compensate for his inferior performance during the first debate.
The remaining two debates are scheduled for October 16 and 22.
