DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A high school student is severely injured after falling several feet at school.

The fall happened Friday afternoon while Pete Benda worked on the Juan Diego Catholic High School's musical.

"Right after lunch one of our students Pete Benda and other students were working on the musical just doing last-minute tech things from what I can understand and he fell,” said Molly Dumas, PIO for Juan Diego. “We're not sure exactly how that came about we're not sure but it was in our auditorium.”

Benda broke his leg, pelvis and suffered a head injury. He's in stable but critical condition at Intermountain Medical Center. The details of how Benda fell are still unclear.

On Friday night, students held a prayer service for the freshman and canceled the production of the musical, “The Drowsy Chaperone”. This is the second tragedy involving a student at Juan Diego this year. In July, sophomore Adam Colosimo died after receiving an electrical shock on a roof and fell off.

‘We started off struggling because of one loss of a student and here we have another one who's injured and we are all praying for him,” said Dumas. “Pete is just gregarious, he's fun and funny a good La Crosse player and he loved being here at high school and doing the play.”
