After being tased and cuffed, the man behind a courthouse brouhaha in Idaho is sitting in jail. The reason, he wouldn’t turn off his camera.

Robert Peterson got a ticket for riding his bike at night without a light, that's why he was in court. But he has some unique political beliefs and thinks he's not subject to most laws. That's why he wouldn't put away his camera.

“If I had gone in there and hit some guy in the face or something, sure tase me, but I’m never going to do that,” Peterson said from behind bars.

But, he was breaking the rules. From the moment Peterson walked into courthouse, his camera was rolling. That's not allowed in Idaho courts. Peterson found his seat in the courtroom, but his camera immediately caught the attention of a nearby bailiff. An argument began, and Peterson was ushered out of the courtroom.

Later, outside in the hall, Peterson was standing by as the courtroom cleared. He tried to enter again. At that point, the bailiffs had enough. Peterson was tased, cuffed and taken to jail. That's where he now sits, facing a $50,000 bail, and three counts of battery and criminal contempt.

“By tasing me, the guy has basically getting high on his power,” Peterson said.

Because of Peterson’s political beliefs, he says he's not subject to those rules.

“I never consented to being held liable under any statute or anything for that matter,” he said.

Peterson said he's exempt from statutes and regulations unless he has hurt or wronged someone else. He believes he did neither.

The court administrator at the Kootenai county courthouse couldn't comment on the case because it's still under investigation. Peterson believes because he has his video, the case will be dismissed.

I'm sorry to any practicing Freedom on the Land men or women but this guy is an IDIOT. He walks in clearly knowing he's in violation and just wants to have a standoff or confrontation with law keepers. He knows what laws he believes do not affect him but he fails to consider the laws that are in place to protect those that are citizens of the US. I have researched a few stories like these trying to beat possible police brutality or even corruption which is all well and good, but this is a joke.

He put his hands on the court officer when he tried to push his way by. That is a battery. He then said he was going to come through. He was causing a disturbance. Not following lawful orders and being belligerent. The officer avoided a potential fight with the guy by using the taser. He doesn't have to wait for the knucklehead to throw a punch. Clearly he is a loon, which would sure make me nervous. Anybody that says they have to consent to the law before it applies to them has a screw loose. Peterson believes in the "sovereign citizen" crap. Of course these guys lose EVERY TIME they go to court, but it hasn't stopped them yet.

The man committed no battery. He used no force. Was he obnoxious? Yes, of course, but that isn't a crime. He was no threat to the bailiffs and in fact had stepped back after being blocked. He was not warned that he might be tased. The fact is, the one who should be prosecuted is the bailiff who tased him. Tasers are abused and this is one of the worst abuses I have ever saw of a law enforcement officer in regards to a taser. The bailiff should have been fired. I know though that the prosecutor will side with the LEO, as they almost always do no matter what. Their loyalty isn't to the public or the law but to cops, no matter how much the cop is in the wrong.
