SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – The roads may be looking better Saturday afternoon than the past few days, but that was not the case Saturday morning. Roads were packed with snow and ice and caused a headache for commuters along the Wasatch Front.

Saturday Mother Nature is making people dig deep. It doesn't matter if you're in downtown Salt Lake, or just trying to clear your driveway, you might be buried in snow, and you could have a rough time getting where you're going.

"It's been hard to go around you know," said Giovanie Hernandez, doesn’t like the snow and cold.

"It's been awhile since we've had this kind of snow," said Larry Martinez, snow plow driver.

Roads have been so icy and snowy the Utah Highway Patrol reports at least 74 crashes along the Wasatch Front. The Utah Dept. of Public Safety reports 169 crashes for the entire state Saturday. People have been sliding off the freeway, into the side of the freeway, and sliding into other cars.

"I see everybody on the side of the road and crashed," said Martinez.

And then there's the bitter cold. Don't be fooled by the blue sky, it's well below freezing out there.

"It's been really cold lately," said Marva Williams, out walking her dog in the cold.

"It's definitely cold," said Blair Norris, visiting Utah.

While some can't stand it, others just grin and bear it.

"It's been fun but a little bit of a living hell," said Hernandez.
