There are many, probably over half, of Juniper Point and Lookout Ridge residents who are fine with the gun range. If those neighborhoods were the real obstacle, the range would be built. The problem is that there are 3 densely populated public schools approximately a mile from the proposed site, well within range of stray bullets. Google "stray bullet from gun range" and you will find that houses around gun ranges get hit regularly. Would it not stand to reason that 3 schools with large, heavily used playgrounds and sport fields directly facing the gun range would have a significantly higher risk to children than houses? A gun range in this location is clearly negligent. Not if, but when a child is injured or killed, after the national news incredulously broadcasts the close proximity of the schools to the range and the world has concluded we are fools, the accident attorneys would descend on our city and take millions.
