OGDEN Utah (ABC 4 News)- They came to Utah in search of new opportunities.
Instead they found tragedy.

After four days in Utah The Moreyra family found all their possessions destroyed in a house fire.

The Moreyra family was staying with his cousin Jose Escobar. The Escobar's also lost everything in the fire too.

At about three a.m. Moreyra heard strange sounds.

"I hear popping and look through the window," he says. "And then I see yellow flames."
He woke up everyone in the house hoping to get everyone out he was able to.

"We just run out of house without shoes and just some blankets and pajamas," he says.

The two families watched everything go up in smoke.

"I pulled out my car just in time," he says. "But I couldn't get my trailer."

Inside the trailer were the family's clothing and his tools as a carpenter.

"It was all gone," he says. "All my tools, clothes, my wife clothes gone."

The unemployed carpenter just arrived from North Carolina hoping to find work.

"It was only four days when we come from North Carolina and I spent all my money to get here," he says.

But now the two cousins must start over, each with no jobs, their families without shelter and clothing.

"I was looking at the pictures (of burned house) and I was like how can this happen to us, how can this happen to our family," he says.

The Red Cross has provided temporary shelter for the two families but those funds run out after Monday night.

Moreyra is unemployed and would like to find a job somewhere to get back on his feet.

Escobar worked in landscaping but he says the season is over and is looking for work.

A trust fund has been setup for anyone willing to help out. The fund is at America First Credit Union under the name of Jose Escobar.
