Good Sunday afternoon,
Although the mornings have been cold with the first frost and freeze for many locations, the afternoons have featured gorgeous fall conditions. This great weather will keep rolling for Columbus Day. After another frosty start, it will be sunny and a few degrees warmer. Wasatch Front highs will be near 70, with southern Utah around 80.
Low pressure off the California coast will turn into a pretty good storm for Utah later this week. Clouds will begin spreading across the state on Wednesday, but the rain will mostly hold off until Thursday. This storm center will cross southern Utah, with the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms on Thursday into Friday. Rain showers and a rumble of thunder will work up the Wasatch Front Thurday night into Friday. Snow levels should drop to around 8,000', with several inches of accumulation possible. Snow could also fly across the higher elevations of southern Utah as well. This storm will clear on Saturday, and most of next weekend will be very nice and seasonable.
Have a great Columbus Day,
Curtis
