Good Sunday evening,
Rain showers will fall tonight into Monday across northern Utah and the Wasatch Front. A strong, southerly wind will howl across the state on Monday as well. Some gusts could exceed 50mph, especially in the western deserts. Precipitation will mainly be rain through Monday night, but colder air will work into the northern half of the state by Tuesday. This will mean lowering snow levels to between 5,000-6,000 by Tuesday night. Wednesday will be a cool, unsettled day with snow above 6,000', with highs generally in the 40s along the Wasatch Front. Up around Cache Valley, a mix of rain and snow will fall depending on elevation. Snow will accumulate several inches above 6,000'. There could be heavy accumulations above 8,000'. Southern Utah will be cooler, but the precipitation will not get any further south than I-70.
Another wave of precipitation will move through Wednesday night into Thursday. This system should have cold enough air that snow will fall down to the valley floors by Thursday morning. If any snow accumulates here, it will likely be slushy and on grassy surfaces. However, heading into the higher elevations, there could be a sloppy mess on the roadways through the mountain passes. A few lingering rain and snow showers will stick around on Friday, with some clearing for the weekend.
