SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – A rash of car burglaries in Salt Lake City has police and victims scratching their heads.
Late Tuesday night, early Wednesday morning, nine vehicles were broken into on K Street in the Avenues. In most cases the thieves bypassed valuable items and stole the vehicle’s registration.
At this point police are unclear of the motive, but they tell ABC 4 News the criminals likely want to use some of the information found on the registrations.
Detective Dennis McGowan with the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "Armed with the address, and possibly garage door openers, you know these people who engage in these activities can come back, enter the garage and enter the house and victimize the house."
