Actually if the hair was on the pits property that is proof enough. if a dog walks into another dogs territory and gets attacked its the wandering dogs fault. Where were the collies owners HUH??????????? the border collie was in the wrong yard. so he was actuall in the wrong reguardless. plus if s human shot a human they do indeed look at where the shell falls just like the hair. the hair proved the collie was indeed present in a yard he should not have been in. the pit was in the right because it was his yard and his family on his grass that HE marks. It was his yard just like you can shoot some one when they enter your house thats all the dog was doing.

The dog wouldn't have attacked a 2 year old wandering onto his property. He plays with little kids all the time. He is really good with them. He is just a puppy

Attacking a dog walking down the sidewalk is not "protecting" your family.

I'm sorry but if a child is outside in her and the dogs own yard and another dog off the leash comes in the territory of that dogs and his families yard. Any dog would feel threatened. He was protecting his family in his own yard!

If your pit bull, or any dog, runs out the front door because you can't control it, and it starts attacking a two year old that wandered onto your property then it's ok? Just protecting the yard, right?

So walking down the sidewalk with your dog on leash now gives any violent dog the right to attack because he is protecting your yard? Dog should be put down and the owner needs her head examined.

Okay, Real Talk - You really need to educate yourself. Barbaric animal??? Do you know anything about the "pitbull breed"? Until you do, I suggest you keep your ignorant statements to yourself. IT'S THE HUMANS THAT MAKE THESE DOGS AGGRESSIVE!!!! My daughter owns two of them and they are the most loving, sweet dogs ever! My Golden is more aggressive than her pitbulls. And for the record, ANY breed of dog is capable of an attack. As for the police officer that shot the dog, I think that was a little extreme. Other measures could have been used to break up the dog fight.

Also, the border collie was NOT on a leash! In fact the owners were cited for not having him on a leash. The pit bull is a sweet playful puppy just protecting his territory and family.
