PARK CITY (ABC 4 News) -Braving the sunshine and warmth on Saturday, a slew of celebrities were racing down Canyons Resort to put smiles on the faces of children born with cleft palates.
Kate Walsh from ABC's Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy, Jason Issacs who played Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter, professional skateboarder Tony Hawk, and Scott Wolf from Party of Five and Everwood joined other celebrities and Olympic skiers to raise awareness for operation smile.
Through this charity, 200,000 children born with cleft palates or lips have received corrective surgery, and a healthy smile. "$240 fixes a child's face, and saves them from a life of scorn in a lot of communities," said Billy Bush from Access Hollywood.
"I just got invited to this, and I'm glad I could help out however I can," Tony Hawk said.
Some actors and fundraisers travel around the world to assist the families receiving the treatment.
One of these "Moms on a Mission" describe the emotion after the surgery saying, "Everyone's crying. Their life is changed forever."
Henry Sulke, who has had this surgery preformed on him was on hand to race, showing off his bright smile. "It's really good to get involved, and it helps their personality and heart," Sulke said.
The event proved to be entertaining, even if the celebrities weren't as skilled on the slopes as they are on the big screen.
"I can't ski, but it's a good cause and I figure I'm surrounded by doctors so how badly can it go," Jason Isaacs said. He survived, and the event was a success. If you would like more information on Operation Smile, go to
