COLORADO CITY, AZ (ABC 4 News) - An important meeting over the future of the polygamous towns of Colorado City, Arizona and Hildale, Utah is coming up Friday.

The Attorneys General from both Arizona and Utah will be there.

Also, Bruce Wisan, the court-appointed administrator of the lands of the twin towns will be there.

And everyone in the towns is invited to attend. But in all likelihood, most will stay home -- at least those who follow FLDS prophet Warren Jeffs.

Why? Because Warren Jeffs, the imprisoned pedophile prophet, said so.

He's told his people, "don't cooperate."

Cooperation, he threatened, will bring excommunication.

Oh, there will be a few people there -- mostly apostates who reject Jeffs. There are a few in the towns.

And yet, even though the meeting will have a direct and dramatic bearing on their lives, Warren's people will likely be no-shows.

The very people state authorities need to reach the most will stay away. So, what's the point?

The meeting is Friday night at the El Capitan public school in Colorado City.

We'll let you know if anyone shows up.

Same-sex marriage is about two people who love each other, polygamy is about abuse and the subjugation of women. Polygamy also creates a huge imbalance because Mother nature only creates on female for every male. This is why we have so many "lost boys" in Utah and Arizona where most fundamentalist Mormon polygamists reside. And the meeting this article refers to is just more of Mark Shurtleff kissing ass with FLDS criminals. If there's anyway to help corrupt polygamists, mark will find it, and it there's anyway to line abusers pockets with taxpayer dollars, Mark will find it. Mark Shurtleff is not part of the solution, he is the Number One Problem !!!!!

First of all, I am a member of the LDS Church and have spent time in and around Colorado City and Hillsdale. We have just seen two more states make same sex marriage legal on November 6th. If that does not go against the Christian values on which this country was founded, how then, can polygamy be worse. In my opinion, the government should make the existing plural marriages legal for those already in such a union. But at the same time, set down a law that anyone born after 1/1/2000, who becomes involved in a plural marriage will not only not be considered married, but can and will be prosecuted under the laws of bigamy. Eventually all of this ig going to wind up in the Supreme Court, I think, because how do you have people considered to be legally married in one state and an illegal union in another regarding same sex marriage. There needs to be a new classification, perhaps Civil Union, that bestows legal rights for medical, insurance and retirement concerns on same sex unions, just as there would be legal polygamous unions that are being phased out in the future. Sure wish someone would pass on reasonable suggestions for a solution.
