"I was watching Kylie Conway and Brent Hunsaker on the news a few nights ago when they talked about the Democrats wanting Romney to release his tax records and how the Democrats claim Romney still worked for Bain during the Olympics in SLC, UT. Both of them stated that they could personnaly claim that Romney was not associated with Baib or working for Bain during the Olympics. I would like to know how they can make that kind of statement? And if they both have personal proof, then they need to release it to the Democratic Party. Or stop making statements or claims they can not back up, legally." (sic)

Thanks for watching and writing about your concerns. I went back through our newscasts, and here's what I've discovered: The comments you are referring to were in the 10:00 p.m. newscast on Thursday, July 12th.

After the story entitled "Romney fighting back" by ABC 4's Senior Political Reporter Chris Vanocur, I said:

"You know, one of the other charges against Romney is that he was splitting time -- he wasn't giving his full attention to the Olympics, but was still in charge of Bain for a time while he was here in Salt Lake.

"I address that issue in a blog that's on our website @ ABC4.com.

Take a look!"

As a reporter assigned to cover the SLOC, the Olympic Torch Run and the Olympics themselves, I am in a unique position to observe what Romney did for Salt Lake City in the aftermath of the bribery scandal. I shared those observations in a blog. You can read by clicking here:

I quoted a Politico article and also linked to it.  Click here to read that article.

After crediting both Romney and his Chief Financial Officer Fraser Bullock with resuscitating the Salt Lake Olympics, I summed up my observations this way:

"Say whatever you want about his politics, ROMNEY HELPED SAVE THE SALT LAKE GAMES. I grow tired of political hit men who cynically try to rewrite Utah's Olympic story. It was our shining moment on the world stage. We threw one great party. Romney deserves our continued thanks for a job well done."

Jeana, another person wrote me saying it was Utah's volunteers who pulled off the successful Olympic Games. I emphatically agree.

No matter how good the army, it still needs a general equal to the task. In 2002, Mitt Romney proved he was that general.

I have also gone on record in another blog predicting that Romney, a Mormon, will not be elected president. Click here for that.  These are all conclusions based on observation.

It's a blog, not a newscast.
