SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - ABC 4 News has learned that the lengthy criminal investigation by Utah's Attorney General into the DABC is now over.

And, as ABC 4 News had earlier reported, no criminal charges will be filed against any current or former DABC employees.

The attorney general launched his probe after several scathing legislative audits into the DABC.

These audits raised questions about the way the DABC ran its multi-million dollar
business.

But just because DABC employees past and present have now been cleared, this doesn't guarantee that criminal charges might not be filed against those outside of the agency.

The AG's office later released a statement on the investigation, saying:

"While the degree and magnitude of disregard for standard accounting procedures or best business practices was egregious and appalling, there is insufficient basis to conclude that any employees of DABC intentionally caused or received personal gain for any person." said Chief Deputy Attorney General Kirk Torgensen. "Sloppy bookkeeping and lax procurement procedures are certainly contrary to the public interest, but are not crimes in this case."
