Super cold temperatures and a fresh layer of snow could make for another big mess Tuesday morning. If everyone isn’t careful we could end up with some real problems.

Monday morning, highway patrol compared the roads to virtual slip and slides, and Tuesday drivers could be in for round two.

"Tomorrow on the morning commute we're expecting some of that dusty snow it doesn't necessarily stick to the roadway but it's something to watch out for especially when driving to work in the morning," said Adan Carrillo with Utah Department of transportation.

Carrillo said wispy snow can be deceiving. It may not look dangerous, but with the temperatures as cold as they've been lately, it can be.

"Just because that snow isn't necessarily sticking to the ground, it looks like it's just flying around people should still be cautious of the driving," Carrillo said.

UDOT is also taking precautions. Salt trucks are on stand-by, ready to go if things start looking treacherous.

"We’ll have crews throughout the night monitoring conditions on the over passes and structures especially in the spaghetti bowl area," Carrillo said.

This cold light snow is mainly affecting roads from Salt Lake City north to the Idaho border. If you're driving in the northern Wasatch there are things you can do to stay safe out there. Carrillo said, simply put, and don’t be in a rush.

"They should give themselves plenty of time to arrive to the destination safely, slow down," he said.

If you're ever concerned about the conditions, UDOT suggests moving to the far right lane. Then, you can turn on your hazards and drive at a speed you find comfortable.
