6th Grade West Kerns Student charged with bringing deadly weapon to school and aggravated assault

KERNS, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A 6th grade student at West Kerns elementary school, who brought a gun to class because he said he was worried after the shootings in Connecticut, has been charged with bringing a deadly weapon to school and three counts of aggravated assault.

Seriously? This kid who got the idea from the media to bring a gun to school is now facing some very serious charges that will scar him for the rest of his life. This should have been handled in private without police and without an arrest. The way schools handle things nowadays is a lot different than when I was growing up. Parents were the supreme authority over their children. Children make mistakes, they are supposed to be able to make mistakes and the consequences should not have criminal charges attached.
