ABC 4 Chief Meteorologist Roland Steadham has been forecasting the weather for nearly 30 years. Roland grew up in Miami where hurricanes and severe thunderstorms started his fascination with weather. After serving a 2 year mission for the LDS church in Venezuela, Roland went to BYU where he studied journalism and meteorology. Shorty thereafter, he was offered a job by Mark Eubank to be the weekend meteorologist for KUTV. He then transferred to the University of Utah to continue his education in meteorology. After 3 years in Utah, Roland took a job with KGTV in San Diego and was then offered the Chief Meteorologist position at WSVN in Miami. He was then hired by WTVJ in Miami. After 12 years of hurricanes, Roland was offered a job at KUTV in Salt Lake City and now he is the Chief Meteorologist for ABC 4. Quite the outdoor enthusiast Roland enjoys riding his ATV and motorcycle. He’s also a commercial licensed pilot and loves flying sailplanes along the Wasatch Front Mountains. Roland is married and has 6 children. He has also been awarded the AMS (American Meteorological Society) and NWA (National Weather Association) seals of approval. Viewers can always catch his Weather First forecasts weeknights on ABC 4 News at 5, 6 & 10.
