Jonelle Merrill

Jonelle is thrilled to be back working in her home market of Salt Lake City. Even though she’s lived in all four corners of the country, she considers Utah to be home and enjoys covering stories in the Beehive State.

Jonelle graduated Cum Laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Broadcast Journalism at Arizona State University. Since graduating, Jonelle has worked as an anchor and reporter in various news markets including Salt Lake City, Boise, Idaho, and Dothan, Alabama.

She’s covered a wide variety of stories in each city, ranging from the 2002 Winter Olympics, to Hurricane Katrina, to the disappearance and search for Susan Powell. Jonelle’s most exciting adventure as a reporter was the chance to fly in an F-15E fighter jet with the 391st Fighter Squadron at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Mountain Home, Idaho!

When Jonelle is not out covering breaking news or developing story ideas, she can be found enjoying the beautiful outdoor scenery that Utah has to offer. She loves skiing the “greatest snow on earth” and visiting Utah’s national parks.

Jonelle is an avid traveler and likes exploring new cities and countries. Most of all Jonelle loves spending time with her family, and an occasional round of Yahtzee!

Jonelle can be seen reporting on weekends at ABC 4 and “here and there” throughout the week. Jonelle is always interested in hearing from viewers. Please feel free to email her any story ideas or suggestions.
